Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number streaming music of that period within the space of six months. In 2017, the single Despacito, which combines reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish languages, while the year the year 2016 featured four. However, during the heights of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after famous artists started working together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) and Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about their genre's shift towards the mainstream but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to continue the evolution of reggaeton. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical procedure.
