Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his family as well as service to the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the top lineman in America. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was all-pro three times and started his business career. In 1988, he worked as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young people in America. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
